i was walking on the beach this morning and saw some sandpipers foraging in the surf... fortunately, i had my Sigma with me, and was able to capture these shots...

Nice shot of a Marbled Godwit with its bill muddied from probing in the mud - most peoplefail torecognize it as a sandpiper because of its large size. The evenlarger Western Gull behind it looks menacing but probably isn't enough bigger to be a threat.

I know I wouldn't of evern tried to guess at what kind of bird it was but I do know I like the Photos.
