I was trying out the 12X zoom lens of my new Canon Powershot S5 ISrecently and got a nice surprise! I zoomed in on the beach/homes of Driftwood Shores (Camano Island, WA) and, by chance, got a nice shot of a Bald Eagle (lower left) without even knowing he was there. :-) My S5 was in the Auto Mode without a polarizer. The photo was takenlate on a sunny and hazy afternoon.

how fortuitous to capture a bald eagle. hopefully you run into him again sometime soon.

Yes, indeed it was just a "lucky shot" and being in the right place at just the right time. If it were not for the 12X zoomit would have never happened. Here is a complete PIC as the one above did not finish loading at Photobucket:
