Hurt Buck & his friend (Warning Graphic)

I was having coffee with one of our local ranchers and he told me about a nice buck that was crossing one of his fields on the way to the river. This field is a favorite place for elk in the winter. The rancher has had to put fence around some of his trees to protect them from the elk in the winter.

Here is the buck I was looking for with a younger buddy

Looks like I caught him before he starts to rub off the velvet. Time for the crow call so I can get him to look towards the camera.

What a surprise, it looks like either last night or this morning he ran into some thing and poked out his eye.

Another look, he didn't seem to be bothered and wasn't trying to rub it off yet. He seemed a lot more interested in eating.

Here is his buddy. The hurt buck will stay close to his friend or find some does to hang around for a while. He will use them for extra security while he gets used to one eye.
