Another Ruby Throated Hummingbird... I was only able to take three shots before I lost light behind a row of Oaks... this was one of them.

Nikkor 300 mm F/2.8 ~ set at F9 ~ ISO 320 ~ 1/320 sec ~ - 1/3 EV ~ natural light

SUPERB Mike - your exposure has been handled extremely well, great balance in the high/lows, wing blur adds tons to the shot

Excellent capture on the Hummer, Mike! Great composition and with the angle just right to catch the sun on the throat.

You guys are too kind, using all those nice adjectives on my pics. :-)

I'm glad you like, I am still learning and have a ways to go, but the learning is what makes it fun. :-)

I've been trying to shoot hummers for a few years now, so I appreciate great hummingbird shots when I see them. Yours is certainly one of best I've seen. Excellent work. Maybe some day I'll finally get there myself. ;-)

Well Nikon had me testing out the soon (Thursday) to be released D3X... okay thats not true! I was using my D200 and had the Nikkor 300mm prime F/2.8 lens attached. It was sitting on Gitzo 1325 CF legs and a Really Right Stuff BH-55 ballhead. (these are nice) :-) I also use a Wimberly sidekick. Thanks for the kind words, here is another from my half an hour window of opportunity tonight.
