1) I spotted this Green Heron sitting on a log. I tried to make my way down closer to the water so that I could shoot it at a lower angle, but unfortunately I spooked it and it flew off.

2) I saw qutie a few immature Black Crowned Night Herons hanging around the water inlet.

3) I caught this Great Egret coming down for a landing. If you time it right, it makes for a nice wing spread pose. The side lighting helped to bring out the details of the feathers.

4) I love these little Western Sandpipers. They usually fly around in flocks and would whizz by me in a big cloud. During the winter months, their flying flocks grow in number and can reach the hundreds. It is quite a sight to behold when they are swirling and banking right in front of you. Also when you catch them flying, you can appreciate all of the details on their wings and backs.

Ok that was the last of my recent pics. Time to put on my hiking boots and head back out into the field.

Thanks for looking.

Great shots, as usual, Hung. The angle on the first one is perfect - a lower one might lose the feet completely.

All are great, especially 4 in that nearly all of their faces could be seen and that the fly pattern is nearly symmetrical to each other.

All great shots particularly the last one at F5.6 with the paper thin Dof covering 5 birds in focus. Very quality work.

Thanks for the comments guys. I always shoot in AF mode. My manual focus skills are not very good to be honest.

i have been unable to get a pic of the two young green herons at my pond because they make their appearance at dusk. your pic is super! all of your pics are great.

as you can see, i am new to posting here so i don't know if i should be able to tell what camera you use. am i not looking in the right places to figure that out or do i have to ask? tia

i just got a new camera for wildlife pics and i am not sure i can get pics that good with it.
