This is simply a test to see if I can "attach successfully." I'm still a bit confused. By the way, the pic was taken about a week ago . . .

I'd say a territorial or squabble between two males..for a female Pelican. Nice shot..never seen a pelican do that before.

That's a funny shot. It's as if one is saying to the other, "If I can't have it then your not going to swallow it either!" :lol:

Thanks to both lesmore49 and Steve for looking and commenting. That day there were 20-25 American White Pelicans cruising ang fishing near me on San Diego Creek, adjacent to San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary. It was a beautiful sight. As you probably know, the White scoops up its meal rather than diving for it as does the Brown Pelican. I'm pretty sure these two were quarreling over food -- note the shadow of a fish barely visible in the pelican's pouch. I got a few more shots in that sequence and they, too, showed the shadowy outline of that fish.
