I was going through some unprocessed photos from a while back and came across this portrait of a Prarie Falcon (pretty sure that's what it is) and decided to share it. I had several shots and probably posted something similar back then but I don't think I posted this one. If I already did, then my apologies.
Cheers,
Steve

what a treat it must have been to come across this falcon and photograph it. it even obliged you with a look. i'm curious as to its size. is it bigger than a kestrel?

Thanks Hung,
Prairie Falcons are about the same size as the Peregrine Falcon. 16" In Flight. So, quite a bit bigger than the Kestrel.

Thanks VP,
Yes, I am getting really antsy for the winter waterfowl and the raptors to start showing up. Nov. through Feb. is my favorite season for bird Photos. I am doubly anxious waiting for my new D300 to arrive, and that won't even be until mid Nov. at the earliest, more likely mid Dec. if Nikon stays true to form.
Thanks for looking,
Steve
