I promise this will be the last for a while. This bird has given me some great opportunities to photograph her and I have enjoyed it!!Forgive me but acouple of these have been posted but I wanted to put these all together. These were shot with a Nikon D300 and 200mm-400mm lens.

Thinking about fishing

Her reflection as she starts to dive

into the water

and up she comes!

She's got lunch

Back to the perch to enjoy her meal.

A little preening after lunch.

Another great series - and here I thought from your earlier thread that you had missed a couple of frames.

Howq did you manage to get the second one? It looks like you were directly over it (or fakingit with a blurry shot looking up)!:?

And that last one - if you had ever wondered how such a short-legged bird could scratch its neck --- I have never seen a bird do this before. :O

Great sequence. Thanks so much. In the last picture is that a lens covering over the eye? Does a lens cover the eye when they go into the water?

Thanks penolta!! LOL (faking it) No that is a photo of the water just before she hit it. If you look at the lower left center you can see something floating.

Thanks Bynx!! Yes that is called a nictitating membrane (third eyelid) to protect and moisten the eye.

Thanks Bob!!

Ron, I have enjoyed all of these from start to finish. This is an excellent sequence that you put together here. Kudos for the work and patience you put into all of the images you have posted of this Kingfisher. Well done!

I know there are pros out there and many fine photographs floating around and in archives. Still, it seems as if some publisher would have an interest in these?
