got a nice sunny day today, at least early, so i decided to visit a wildlife refuge an hour's drive north, to see what i could find. there are supposed to be lots of eagles and hawks there this time of year. didn't get much in the way of eagles, but i did manage a couple of decent shots of this hawk perched on a power pole... 40D, 100-400L @ 400mm, 1/800 @ f/10...

Great shots Rocky! The look on the last one is certainly a stern one.

I'm constantly amazed at these birds of prey that perch on light standards etc. I see a Hawk in our area that sits all the time on top of a light standard watching the traffic. And lately, there's been a bald eagle sitting up on a huge light standard on the freeway for the last 2 weeks. I see him everyday when I'm going to work. Unfortunately, I can't stop in either location to photo these traffic watchers.....cheers...Don

Maybe it is moreannoyed with the (cold?) wind that is ruffling its feathers? :roll:

could be... it was sunny, but the base temp was only about 37 degrees, so the wind chill was probably well below freezing...
