I was wandering through the wildlife sanctuary yesterday and came across this young eagle on the ground. He or she had a catch of some kind. I was hoping it would be a little more revealing as to what it was chowing on, but the grass blocked it out. As soon as it spotted me it took off to the left into the trees. No chance for a bif shot as I was changing settings as it flew off....drats again! The light yesterday was so flat..I don't think I've seen it any darker during mid day. I actually boosted the saturating to +15 in ps, and it still seems devoid of colour........cheers...Don

These shots are not bad at all, Don, pretty neat! You were able to get fairly close it looks like and salvaged them from the conditions. After two months of trying, I also got close to one yesterday......with the sun at it's back. So.......

Seems like you didOK Don, in spite of the conditions. Cool to come across one on the ground. Dan

I don't miss the BIF attitude one bit in this presentation, you have captured some amazing expression in the face, which clearly was your focus, and boy did you do good on that. That bird was focused and you captured that in a situation where light wasn't helping the situation much. Beautiful job K!

Thanks VP, Dan and Norm. Light was challenging, but I'm slowly learning to compensate. The stablized lens was a definite help.

Norm, you caught exactly what I was thinking when I posted these 3 seemingly very similar shots. The birds different expressions were first on my mind here, and he or she was concentrating on it's business. Thanks once again for your valuable insights.....cheers...Don

PS: Here's another of the same series. Eyeing it's dinner...
