New Years Day my wife and I packed a lunch and took off up the Skagit river to see the annual 'gathering of Eagles'A friend went the day before and saw 85 on a wonderful sunny day, we were't so lucky, we saw 6 I think, on a grey cold windy day above snow line. They didn't want to co-operate either all the mature ones stayed out of my range, this young guy felt sorry for me though and perched high in the trees.

It was still a stretch for me with the Oly E500 and the 40-180 lens. As you can see I brought it up in the computer and tried to get some colour. Mostly I got noise and halo but it's a good reminder of a fun day out. You can see the wind on the feathers. They don't get their white heads and tails for about 3-5 years

Excellent work picking out some detail in an extremely tough processing task. Beautiful bird, congrats on your fine work.
