There are at least three crossbills, two of which occur in North America - the Red (pictured above) and the White-winged, which also occur in Europe and Asia,where there is alsoa third. Super find, Don, I have only seen a few posts of this bird over the years. These shots are extremely interesting and well done.

Thanks very much Norm. I used to think they were quite rare, but I've seen a lot of them for over 6 months now. They seem to like it here, despite the lack of pine trees. They spend a lot of time on the beach picking out old logs and driftwood....cheers...Don
