I have a loaner 30D from Canon that I am using to shoot basketball over the next few weeks while the Mark III is in for the free fix. Immediately after picking the loaner up from the post office I found a flock of waxwings feeding in bitter cold weather.

With wind chill it was about 40 degrees below (celcius up here)

It was a real joy spending 20 minutes with these birds and they got close after I stood still in the snow (with snow mask and gloves of course). Amazing how they become accustomed if one just stops moving for awhile.

Fabulous find Norm!! I love Waxwings. These are I gather the Bohemian variety? We don't see these out here. On the IQ, it just goes to show you it ain't the equipment, it's the operator. These really are beautiful...cheers...Don
