Mike, this is about as close to a perfect shot as one will ever see. I love the DOF, and the true colours and textures of the Ring Neck, which you've caught perfectly. And also your composition at a low level is great. I don't have the knees to get low like this, but I wish I did. Great job!!....cheers....Don

Nymph, thanks and I use the Nikon D200 w/Nikkor 300mm F/2.8 (non VR) lens and I had on the Nikkor 1.4x teleconverter. Also an important part is that I shoot in RAW and pull all of my images through ACR (Adobe camera raw) and tweak them their as they are flatter after being shot in RAW. Then I click "done" and it goes over to CS3 for the final tweaking. I think a persons post procesing skills are pretty important these days and combined with photography skills can help get a person to the next level... whatever that is.:-)

Don, thanks bud! I was actually down in the water to get that angle and the water was about 53 degrees.... that gets cold after a few minutes and I was in there longer than a few minutes... like two hours.

Beautiful shot. You really captured the details and shiny color.
