cool capture ed. at first i didn't even realize there were 2 egrets there. i like how their beaks have that green color. the great egrets we have here in southern california don't have that green color. a different species perhaps?

The rookery is in a new natural area that just opened to the public last Friday. The area is in Davie (Broward County) Florida. I went to check out the trail in the park. It is basically a hammok full of beautiful old Oak Trees. I was disapointed since there was no wildlife in the area. I was leaving the park, wich exits beside a small lake with this island in it. On the backside of the island I saw the Great Egret nests. I turned around, parked my car and went on foot to check things out.

I hope to get back when the chicks start to hatch. Most of the Egret Nests had eggs in them. I saw no sign of eggs in the Heron nests yet.
