this redwing was trying to drive a great blue heron away from a nesting area, and not having much success. this particular heron was either extremely determined, or just plain obstinate, because it put up with the redwing's harassment for long enough that the blackbird gave up and flew off... 40D, 400mm, 1/640 @ f9.1...

LOL...good behavioral capture and good shooting. I have seen that with a Chickadee on a squirrel that was close to a nest. The Heron must have thick skin, it looks like the RWBB is buried up in the last shot.

thanks, guys... i'd seen this sort of thing before, but i'd never seen the RWBB actuall LAND on the heron, and i'd never been able to get a photo of any of it! i was pretty pleased to catch these... :G
