this green heron at the park yesterday landed on a log occupied by a pair of turtles. whether by design or accident, the log started to roll a bit, and the heron, looking for all the world like a lumberjack at a log-rolling contest, simply kept walking as the log rolled. the turtles, however, could not manage to keep up... :lol: 40D, 210mm, 1/320 @ f/8...

Interesting observation. May be coincidental, but herons and egrets are remarkably inventive in devising new hunting/foraging techniques, so I wouldn't rule it out. If you have the time and inclination, it would be worthwhile to visit the same spot and watch to see if it does it again. Thanks for posting these.
