Here are some shots of the proud parents. They are quite the protective couple. They basically took over this pond. When I first walked by the pond, I thought it odd that it was so empty of the usual black necked stilts and ducks. After watching these two chase away any bird that lands in the pond, I now understand why the pond was so empty.

1) Pappa Avocet

2) Momma Avocet with baby in the background

3) An unfortunate duck who did not read the no trepassing sign put up the protective avocets.

4) Here's another shot of Pappa. This was a full frame shot, no cropping. He walked right up to where I was sitting to give me the eye. The red bokeh was from a red truck parked on the other side of the pond.

5) Pappa is giving me the disapproving staredown.

6) Splish splash.

7) Experimented with a vertical framing on this one.

8 ) Up...

9) Up...

10 ) And away...

Thanks for looking and commenting.

- Hung

Great job on this series, Hung! Exposure is super along with detail. I don't see these birds as a regular and didn't know they were that agressive.

#1, 2 and 6 are just great. The crossing-over in #2 iswell capture. IfPappa Avocet is on the right picking from the mud,the shot will turn on to be like'The Gleaners' by Jean-Francois Millet.

Lovely colors, too.
