The Snowy Egret is an active forager, employing several strategies - two of these relate to the yellow feet, which allow it to see fish when they swim across its toes. To this end it either walks slowly watching its feet or stope briefly standing on one leg anddisturbs the bottom by kicking or vibrating the other to scare up hidden fish in a method known as "foot stirring."

By contrast, the Great Egret is an ambush hunter.

#3 It is either a "stand-and-wait" predator which waits for its prey to come to it
