Default Dinnertime C-750

The wife took this today with her new Oly C-750. We never saw anything like this before. Anyone know what kind of hawk that is?

J,

Nice shot. Without seeing more of the raptor unsure what kind it is. If it had reddish brown tail feathers it would have been a red-tail hawk.
If you want more info contact www.smrr.net.
Southeast Michigan Raptor Research they can identify it.

Nice shot. It is almost certainly a young red-tailed hawk. One of the photos here is almost an exact match: http://www.mbr-pwrc.usgs.gov/id/framlst/i3370id.html

I doubt that bird in its claws think it is as good looking as we do.

Default hawk

Looks like a Red-tailed hawk to me. The line of brewast markings is a key to the ID.

The hawk still has juvenile coloring might be his or her first kill.
