I realize RW Blackbirds are common as ants but I'm still enamoured of them - I enjoy their song, their energy and their courage, dive-bombing would-be intruders, be they human or otherwise. This is such a bird in a typical setting - a marsh, where it is closely guarding the nest, which is obscured in the brush below it.

Another sure sign that summer is not far off (I took this in May)- a female tree swallow with a beakful of nesting material for her home.
