Chiricahua Beep Beep & Crow Call

Canon 1Dmark3 w/ 500mm lens + 1.4 converter and a Better Beamer and with my trusty BushHawk.

After going thru a few days of photos from our Chiricahua trip I have decided my Better Beamer will stay on my camera. The extra shots it allowed me to get and not knowing when you will or will not need it makes it IMHO a must to stay on the camera.

A couple at the Rodeo, New Mexico restaurant gave us permission to go on their property in search of something to photograph so after Rick & Steve had some food and I had some more coffee off we went to their place.

We found a Roadrunner in some bushes by their fence so decided to try and get a few shots. It was the male and he went into the field next door and joining the Mrs. on a hay stack.

Mrs. Beep Beep

After a while he decided to come back towards us and went into some thick bushes. Steve went down the fence line to see if he could find something to shoot so Rick and I were talking and we noticed Mr. Beep Beep had moved a little closer into another buch of thick bushes. We decided to try the crow call to try and get him out of the bushes and come in a little closer if we could get him curious enough.

He is interested

Sneaking in a little closer

About this time I turned my head away from him and tried a few very soft calls. He had to get close enough to see what
was going on.

During the Chiricahua trip I tried the crow call on numerous birds, jackrabbit, ravens & some horses. The best I can remember it worked all but one time. What it did was give us that 2nd or 3rd opportunity for additional photos with a different look from the animal.

This is the Crow call I like the best.

Hi GW, I use my crow call a lot and it seems to work on most wildlife.
