oh wow!!!!!! that wolf is absolutely beautiful!!!!! and i love the "kitty"!!!!! is this lakota place a zoo??? or a big fenced in acreage with animals roaming wild?? how close were you to these animals? i have inlaws in brick, N.J. how close is it to there? might be a worthwhile detour when we visit.

Thank you for your compliments Dennis! The Lakota Preserve houses about 28 wolves in several different packs. The packs are in enclosures that look to be several acres in size. The enclosures are of the page fence variety, with a double fenceline that has an area approx. 8 feet wide between them. If you just go to see the wolves you will get within 20 feet of them but they will be behind 2 layers of wire fencing so the photo ops are very limited

If you pay for a private photo session as I did you will be taken behind the first fence lines and Dan will open the shooting portals in the main fence, you will then have an unobstructed view of the wolves. At times the wolves were within 4 to five FEET, so close sometimes that my lens wouldn't focus.

It's going to be a long detour for you as the preserve is located in Columbia, NJ which is near the PA border off of I-80

Hi Kevin...great photos

Btw...I believe I have been to this preserve....you can camp about a half mile away and hear them howl if it is the same preserve.

Kudos on your photos...the fee I am sure is well worth the photos that you have captured!

Kevin,

I was able to visit the Lakota preserve last weekend. I had a great time and learned some new things about wolves... Thanks for sharing your photos and letting me know about this hidden gem in NJ.

Kevin G,
I love your wolf. The angle you took the picture makes the wolf look almost evil .
