For the last several years, a steadily growing flock of trumpeter swans has made its winter home on a pond near Heber Springs, in northern Arkansas. They generally arrive Thanksgiving week and will stay through February. This year's count is around 150 birds. These juveniles were lined up for inspection with a crowd of ring-necked ducks as spectators.

These massive birds are an impressive sight when they sweep down onto the water

The swans are sharing their winter home with a mixed collection of ducks including ring-necks, buffleheads, and mallards

For the first time this year, there was a flock of double-crested cormorants

Wow! Those are fantastic shots. Nice work.

I especially like the Ring-necked duck and the Bufflehead.
