Hunting Contest - Bet Big Dollars

Wacky vs Bull Elk :-) My suggestion - Bet the house and all your savings on Wacky, cuz I am gooood :-)

My goal is to find a Bull Elk in the timber and get a clean open shot of him. Smart me vs a dumb animal, this should be easy.

OK!!!! found me a bull colored elk in the timber. Do you see him ???

He is getting up and yes it is a bull.

Now all I have to do is figure out a plan and then make the plan work. The wind and the sun are telling me I have to approach this from the direction I am at. I can't get much closer to much open meadow. If I can get him out in the open and then down towards me I got him. I will let him eat a bit then try to call him.

He took a few bites and started up the hill "The Wrong Way" no openings only more and thicker timber. I called to get him to stop. Ok I got his attention.

Not good, he is headed to the dark timber. I will try a loud cow call. NO not MOO

It worked, he turned and is interested.

Now a very soft call to really get his attention. I want him to step out and look at me, I get the open shot and then I WIN.
He leaned back, raised his head and looked then turned around and went into the dark timber.

Bottom Line: Elk wins, Wacky looses. In my family we call this being ELKED. If you think about it, this is a good thing. The man vs elk battle has been going on for ever and we still have elk and that means they have to win 95% or more of the time or they become steaks and then there is no elk anymore.

If you missed the elk in the 1st shot here he is.
