My wife and I took her mother over to the refuge for a picnic lunch and some bird watching. I was able to snap a few pictures, even with our over enthusiastic Jack Russell dying to get out and chase the wildlife. Mostly the squirrels and racoons.

Here are a few shots from the trip.

1st one of the two racoons that were traveling along the creek and driving my dog nuts.

A young Red-tailed hawk. Or maybe a Red-shouldered hawk.

They are all very nice but the Jack Rabbit is just great!

By the way, they hunt Raccoon's around here and I have seen an angry Raccoon tear up a very large hunting dog, so if I were you, I would keep the terrier in the car when they are around.

Thanks Tom. Yes, they have been know to go after not only large dogs but people as well. Don't worry, we kept Bandit well tethered during our visit and he wasn't allowed out of the truck. Even though he thinks he could take a Bear. Crazly JRT's.
