took a quick trip to the park this afternoon, not much going on, but this male common merganser came in a bit closer than usual, and let me get a couple of decent shots...these guys seldom come closer than about 50 yards to shore, so i felt lucky to get this one from "only" 25 yards or so... 40D, 400mm, 1/800 @ f/10...

That's a great shot Rocky! These guys are hard to get right. That dark green head and the white body is a real pain for exposure. Well done!!....cheers..Don

Around here the stay quite a far out and then dive when you start to get close enough.
