went to the park this afternoon after taking my son for a driving lesson, and spent a couple of hours enjoying the remainder of the afternoon. i was about to leave when this little beauty zoomed in, lit on top of an old snag about 40 feet away, and proceeded to pose pretty for the 3 or 4 of us photographers standing on the viewing platform. you never saw such a scramble to get lenses up and swing cameras on tripods around! anyway, she stayed long enough for me to get several shots, which turned out to be the best i've gotten yet of a female kingfisher... 40D, 400mm, 1/500 @ f/14...

Congrats Rocky! It's always a treat when unexpected visitors drop in. Way to go.

Nice photos Rocky. My best efforts at trying to capture Kingfishers always wind up the same. A really nice picture of the snag it was sitting on.
Well done, I am green with envy,
Steve
