This Humming Bird's nests are no bigger than an egg cup - and so well camouflaged that they're very hard to detect - but my wife spotted one in one of our apple trees. There had been no sign of any activity there for at least a week & we thought the squirrels had eaten the eggs, but when I went & looked closely at it a few minutes ago, something moved - and then a chick stuck its head up with its wings fluttering and a wide open beak. So I pressed the shutter. Obviously it had closed its beak when the shutter went off. And now that the picture's been downloaded, you can see two more beaks sticking over the edge of the nest (to the left).

I got two more shots - this time of one of the parent birds sitting on the nest. In this one I'm trying to show how tiny the nest & bird are. Next I'm going to post a very much magnified view.
