Default Unknown moth

We live in Victoria, B.C. A few days ago our next door neighbours saw a very large moth. I'ts shown in this picture.

Neither they nor we have ever seen one like it before. Can anybody identify it?

I looks like some type of Sphinx Moth to me.

Tom (ennacac) is right on target.

It is the One-eyed ~ Cerisy's Sphinx (Smerinthus cerisyi) ~ a species of the hawk moth in North America.

Great find with such striking colourations ~ haven't seen one of these for years.
