Default Is this a Peregrine?

Hi everyone,

I shot this fellow outside my door eating a Mockingbird. I noticed he/she is banded on one leg. I think this may be a Peregrine? Does anyone know? He may have gotten loose or someone in the area lets him out to feed. I don't know enough about the sport to say.

Sorry, no Peregrine. It is an accipiter, not a falcon. It would be a Cooper's Hawk. Many birds bear US Fish & Wildlife Service numbered bands for tracking their movements. This one looks like a Service band, so it would not be an escaped captive, but a wild bird.
