Default Whooping Cranes flying with ultralite

Kevin and I went to Necedah, Wisconsin the weekend before this last one to photograph the Whooping Cranes flying with an ultralite in preparation for their flight to the western coast of Florida next month (some of you may have heard about this through the media). You may notice that the pilot is in a Whooping Crane costume so that the birds don't imprint on a human being. What's amazing is that these birds (there are 22 of them this year) will migrate back to Wisconsin in the Spring unassisted!

This remind me of "Wings Migration" on the Discovery channel... Very cool!

Reminds me of the Disney movie "Fly Away Home" with Jeff Daniels and Anna Pacquin. What a great program..... I am referring to the cranes. Actually, the movie is pretty good too. Though it deals with geese and is also based on a true story.

Very cool photo.

Very cool photo indeed! I have always fascinated by cranes. They reach altitude of 20,000 feet while they migrate over the mountains of Europe and Asia.

I have been planning on driving down there to the International Crane Foundation all summer and still have not done it. Great shot!
