An advantage to that is that there is less chance to have dust on the sensor. Sorry gtoth this is getting away from your fine photo and going on more about your camera.
Not a problem, Bynx. Some good, analytical though here.

Yes, and this shot of yours shows that this lens is quite capable of taking clear shots - But, can it match a dedicated 500mm prime? Can it at a shorter focal lenth match a 55mm prime?

Zooms have gotten Much better today then they were even as short as twenty years ago, but I can still see a difference.

Yeah, I would have bet wrong, and lost some cash from the shot you posted here - I am surprised at it's quality. I'm used to the NR on these machines wiping out the individual feathers. Even so...

I'm a hobbyist, Dave. If I were to do this for my bread and butter, I would be concerned about having every little pixel just so. But, I'm not. I have a DSLR and, while it too is not professional grade, I keep gravitating to the SP590. If for nothing else than convenience. I produces photographs that please ME. If I post one and it happens to please someone else too, so much the better. Guess I'm just not as discerning. But, like I said, I'm a hobbyist.

Well, the important part of this thread, is the image you posted. All the rest is simply a side discussion. It's a very nice shot!

heheheh... That very much for the kind words but, no, I'm perfectly happy being a hobbyist. Do it for money and it becomes a job. Job = bye-bye joy.
