What a fun Roadrunner this character was, he was really curious and came looking every time I used my crow call.

Rodger, I had to laugh at the first shot, he looks like he's been rode hard and put up wet!

Actually, it is thermoregulating. Roadrunnrs expose the dark feathers on their backs to the sun to absorb heat. Nicely documented by this shot.

Number three is a great portrait - with all those chinwhiskers he looks like he could use a shave!

Maybe he got a new electric razor for Christmas. Thanks for the information, I knew he was doing it for heat but never know what it was called.
