Default Canadian Coyote

I was returning from a photo outing earlier today and decided to go home by a more rural route. I spotted this coyote in a field and managed to pull over, stop the car, reverse on the shoulder of the road, roll down the window and manage these two quick pics before the coyote melted into the brush. In fact, these are my first coyote captures ever! Not much IQ but I'm happy for the chance to see / "shoot" a coyote. The second pic is my 1st choice. Cheers, Dan

LOL...I've been shooting a few myself....with my rifle. Actually I've shot warning shots at the ground in front of them when they are a little toooo close to the house (I have a little dog that would make a nice snack) But they are such great mousers and my hayfield needs them (ohhh the conundrum) But your pixs do show the beauty of this cunning animal...

Hey Dan, Congrats on two fine captures. I love number 2, such beautiful colors in the face. Well done.

Coyotes are beautiful animals with an evil disposition. In the 1970's, I lived on a farm in east Texas, and we had cattle. The coyotes would occasionally kill and mutilate a calf and not use it for food, so I developed an intense dislike for them. I understand all about conservation and tree hugging, but for the people who provide us with meat to eat, these guys are the enemy, and there is no love loss between them. However, time wounds all heels, or vice versa, so I don't feel that way anymore, but there will always be a love-hate relationship between humans and coyotes.

Nice pics, by the way, especially #2. It's always nice when they look at you...

Thanks guys. Just a lucky couple of shots. I had to beep the car horn to get it to look at me. Regards, Dan
