Default A few of my favorite birds to shoot...

The Great blue heron has always been one one of the best posers.
I caught this guy sunning himself on the roof of a boat dock so I pulled my motorcycle over to the side and walked out on the dock about 75 - 80 foot further away so I could get a side shot. he pretty much ignored me the whole time I was there. as you can see it was fairly windy.

Then there was this guy in a much different setting and lighting conditions...

For the prettiest and most graceful... it has to be the Snowy egret in breeding plumage.
This one was very co-operative as a model, even gave me a little
bow.

I half way expected to get a bill in the mail from from his agent...

Default Way to go

If you get the bill pay it. What a great model you found.

Thank you Rodger!
I'm hoping to be able to acquire some better photo gear some day so I can get better image quality out of the opportunities I do get but, for now I'm stuck with what I got.
The shot I see that you, Dan, Steve, Rocky and several others post here really inspire me. I've learned a lot in the past year from reading the post on this forum and sure appreciate everyone's input. Sometimes I'll look at shots of mine like those above and think... hey, not bad. then I come here and realize I have a long way to go!

These are lovely photos, GW. Well done. In photo #1, it looks like the GBH is resting its bill on it's wing. Regards, Dan

Hey you've got a great start on you journey. Nothing to be ashamed of here they are all top notch shots. We all, and I mean ALL, started at the beginning. I think you've already got two of the most important components, a love of nature and a good eye. Both of those are way more important than the equipment. Just use what you got and enjoy. I know I am enjoying your shots.
Happy New Year,
Steve

Dan, I had to go back and look, you're right it does kinda look like that. but, he's got his throat in a tight s curve with the wind blowing and puffing his feathers up. thank you for the kind comments.

Well... I suppose I have to fess up and admit I screwed up on the egret ID. it's actually a Great Egret not a Snowy. There is a big difference in size of the two and the Snowy has a black bill. Not sure how I managed to mess up, guess I was just in a hurry... sorry bout that.
