Nice portraits, all, but there is something spooky about a dark-eyed owl - just doesn't seem natural.

Flutelady - Thanks! These birds would be far more beautiful out in the forest, if only they could be released...

Penolta - Some say Barred Owls eyes are spooky - my wife thinks their soulful... They are indeed quite dark - maybe that helps them blend in with the pines in their preferred habitat - look like knotholes??

Roger - Thanks! I get to take care of these guys every day - part of the job - even get to clean their cages!!
