Default Killdeer Chicks

A few weeks after I took the photos of the killdeer with eggs I returned to the scene to nest site to discover that I had missed the birth of the chicks. Of the four eggs, three hatched and I was very happy to see (with some difficulty) three really tiny puff balls with really long legs darting through the shoreline grass, reeds and shrubs. It was a most challenging experience trying to focus on something so tiny as these chicks. They did not stay together but darted individually, each going its own way. And they were quick never still enough for a really good focus lock. Anyways, these are the best of the many attempts I made to capture them. Cute in their own kind of way. These should bring a smile to your face. Again, thanks for looking. Cheers, Dan

PS - of the three chicks, one was killed by a falcon, another just disappeared and only one survived to fly off with its mother a few weeks later.

that is just too cute, we may have to censor that, as it could result in spotaneous "awwwwws" which could get you caught reading forums at work.

I'd have to think really hard to remember if I have ever seen anything cuter than those chicks. I am going to be looking at these pics over and over. Thanks, I did get a Big ol' smile looking at these. Steve

Thanks for the great feedback guys, I really appreciate it! No worries about work, Hards80, I'm retired :-). It was a hoot watching them scamper around. I was laughing so hard at the chick poking around in the sand pile that I had a hard time holding the camera still. Cheers, Dan
