Default Hoverfly on birdfeeder

This felow was enjoying the sugar water on the hummingbird feeder.

Thank you. I really cannot tell one bug from the next. When i called one like it a bee, everyone said it was a hoverfly. Looks like a bee to me too.

Very nice closeup.

It's a bee--it has chewing-lapping mouthparts, geniculate antennae, 4 wings, plumose setae on the body, and the hind legs are flattened to carry pollen.

Hover flies, aka flower flies (family Syrphidae), have different mouthparts, short and different antenna, only 2 wings, usually have bare bodies without a lot of setae, and the hind legs are not flattened to carry pollen.
