I could correct it myself, but no one has questioned it, so I will probably let it die, but these posts appear quickly when a fact is searched for on Google, and I can imagine some poor student quoting wrong information in a term paper and being graded down for it! I posted something poorly worded the other day and then went to Google to double check (should have done that first) and bang - there it was! And before I changed it, it was quoted in a subsequent post, so even though I went back and edited mine, the other will be there forever!
Might help if you didn't make such statments that Starlings were imported to combat Gypsy Moths, and then make a statement that they were imported because someone wanted to bring to North America all the birds mentioned in Shakesphere...

I wrote that they "were ALSO imported" . . . . There have been multiple releases and importations of Starlings in different places and for different reasons, at least since 1850, not all of which have been successful. "Released" may have been a better word than "imported" in the first instance, but but both have been claimed. Both statements are essentially correct, as you can import from one state for release in another, as well as from outside the country.

Let's' not hijack Steve's thread with disagreements from an unrelated topic.
