Default Downy at work

Downy Woodpeckers are very busy these days excavating new nest holes (or cleaning out old ones). Here are a few "action shots" from a nearby excavation:

Pretty cool shots, mole! I always enjoy these little guys at the feeders. Seeing them in action makes them even more enjoyable.

Thanks Gary! He sure was working hard in that dead Boxelder. Since it's right near the park office, I'm hoping this will be the final choice on the nest hole, so we can see the young'uns!
