Calicajun,

Thank you. Trying to learn. Just got a fast-to-focus lens but it doesn't have a very long reach. Expensive lenses those teles, very expensive

I'm guessing he used a Canon 70-200mmL f4 lens but that just a guess. Do tell us what lens you did use.

Acapulco,

Calicajun

Thanks for your interest. When I just had bought the EF-S 55-250 I had beginners luck with a stationary picture of a Northern Wren (Winter Wren) The pictures of the Blackheaded were taken just after buying the EF 70-200 4.0 IS USM.

It wouldn't have been possible with the non USM, I think. The 70-200 focuses fast(ly). But, really, friends, I've seen much better BIF pictures pass without a comment on this very forum

A 400 5.6 L USM with IS would be my choice. Why they don't add IS to that lens I don't understand (marketing reason?)

I can easily imagine a paradise where humans and animals live together. You wouldn't need those big guns and wildlife photography would dismantle itself. "But I love you", I can scream to a little titmouse, for instance, when it flies out of reach, "come and sit on my shoulder"

Have a nice weekend, birdwatchers and everybody else

Cheers

Torgny
