Default Close To The European Herring Gull

From Fiskhamnen

Oversharpened - I'll redo it. Done - is it too soft?

Hi Torgny, I really like your first Herring Gull. The eye is nice and sharp, and the bird "pops". Very beautiful picture. The second one, the juvenile(?) is good, but I wish its eye had been visible.

Robert,

flutelady

Thank you for viewing and commenting. Here is a close look at the tip of a wing (adult). A friend of mine explains the black colour. The black pigment(?) makes the feathers stronger where it's needed. The tip often touches the water surface

So the black protects the wings from being worn out; important in the ever ongoing struggle for survival

PS

Robert, I'll go in on 2-3 pixels level and at least give the eye a stronger white dot. It's already there, just needs to be brighter

These are good, Torgny. I don't remember seeing you shoot birds in flight or wildlife for that matter. The buildings in the background (instead of just a blue sky) gives proper context of an urban setting.

Thank you, vv,

for viewing and the comment. Lack of patience and a thin wallet hinder me from seriously trying to do the type of wildlife photo preferred at most overseas forums

I very much prefer birds in their natural environment. Doesn't demand such advanced equipment. Feather detail can be experienced at any museum of natural history.
