Default Green-winged Teal & Ruddy Duck

Just got back from a trip to the refuge. Finally, a day of sunshine. Most of the water fowl were off refuge out in the rice fields. I did find a nice Green-winged teal and some Ruddy Ducks.

Thanks for looking and Happy New Year......Steve

A little Ruddy Duck. Later in the season the bill will turn bright blue for attracting a mate.

Hi Steve

The pattern in the ducks' right side / wing (facing the camera) is truly beautiful and that makes it an even better shot for me. It's even fabulous without that aspect.

Thanks for the informaton about the Ruddy duck. That's so interesting that later in the season the bill turns blue for attracting a mate!

Cool shots. Great natural colours.

I agree the feather pattern is something to look at. They are beautiful little ducks.

Thanks Paul and Happy New Year.
