Default more bufflehead colors

buffleheads are quite common in this area in winter, though by April they've mostly moved on to their summer breeding grounds. because of the typical winter weather here - gray, wet, and often quite gloomy - it's hard to get photos of these little fellas in sunlight, so i settle for what i can get. 40D, 400mm, various settings...


Out where the rivers like to run, I stand alone, and take back something worth remembering...

We have a lot of mornings like that here, too, but I was fortunate to have such good light for those in my thread. Lighting was good for your first one, though. You were lucky to get the colors to display on the wing shots in that light.
