A few shots from the local duck pond.

My fiancÚ and I took our dog walking at the campus duck pond today, so I thought I'd take along my new 70-300 DO IS and try it out in the "wild" for the first time. Since I had to keep up with the pup, there wasn't a lot of time for stopping and thinking, but here're a few that turned out reasonably well (and a bonus shot of Rusty!).

C&C always welcome (especially since I'm just now learning how to use this lens, which is my first over 55mm in length), hope you enjoy!

Nice lens, I'm sure you'll grow to love it in time. I have the Tamron 70-300 for my Sony, and it still amazes me after two and a half years. You managed to get some nice shots, in spite of your (hindrance). 1, 2, and 5 are my favorites, and, of course, Rusty!:icon_lol:

Thanks for the comments, I was pretty excited to get #5. Wish I'd been closer to get more detail on the spray (that's a pretty healthy crop as it is), but for being on the opposite side of the pond, i'm definitely satisfied with it.

Enjoyed having a "gander" at your shots - really lovely and well sharp. Love No.4, that wee chaps feathers are just brill.

I've seen a duck near my house that looked like your #4 and I assumed it was some sort of injury. Then I saw your shot and did online search to find out that they are actually called the Crested Duck!!! Learned something new today.

Really nice shots, BTW!

Love the detail of the feathers in #1. Well done.
