Default American Toads spawning

These were also posted over at the Pentax SLR part of the forums, but thought some of the wildlife experts might enjoy them too. Was out at Laurel Run Park in rural Hawkins County (East Tennessee) and just happened upon a pond with literally hundreds of American Toads singing and spawning. They were quite unafraid of our close approach - these were taken with a Sigma 105mm lens, and little if any cropping. As you well know, the males do all the singing, with that inflated throat pouch to magnify the mating call. Here are a few views of the males:

Jehan - Thanks so much for your very kind words. Glad you enjoyed these!

PS - am hoping to get back out to Laurel Run soon, to check on the egg masses of these toads, and of several species of frogs that were also "at work" there last Saturday...

Mole,

Indeed fascinating toad pictures. Second Jehan's comment on your work

I agree with the others. Super shots. I really enjoy your excellent work. Being a science teacher I love threads like this. I love the "Frog Pile" It makes so much more sense then "Dog Pile", I never understood that. He he.

Cheers, Steve
