Default Love that suet!

This pair of Downy Woodpeckers and their fledgelings love this stuff. The suet feeder is the only feeder that Squirrels and Raccoons will not destroy. Until I chained the door shut, Raccoons would open it and run off with the entire suet cake.

Very nice. I have to take mine inside at night because the Raccoons will make off with the whole feeder.

I put in a quarter cake at a time. By the end of the day it's gone or mostly so. I figure if the the coons want what's left (which ain't much), they can have it. You'd be surprised at how much you can save over forgetting to bring it in at night and having the little thieves get 3/4's of your cake!

I forgot to mention that the photo was made at the 35mm eguivalent of 1050mm. Today, like many other days of the year, was a time to think of old buddies with whom I served and one in particular, Lt. Col Digger O'dell, who was a POW who spent 5.5 years at the Hanoi Hilton. God bless them all.
