Default a buck in velvet

one of several bucks i saw up at Hurricane Ridge in the Olympic Mountains on Saturday... he was about 20 yards away, coming through some trees. he poked his head out, saw me and stopped, then after deciding i wasn't a threat or a rival, he went about his business, and finally wandered off across a patch of snow and back into some trees. i expect there'd be a lot of hunters that'd give their eye teeth for a "shot" like this! 40D, 100-400 @ 300mm, 1/320 @ f/7.1...

Lovely shot, Rocky! He has a sweet face, and look at his ear, it's all tattered!
