Default Young Flamingos

I spent a couple of weeks on the island of Bonaire recently. I think these are young ones judging by their pale color.

Diving was most excellent, jj. That's all we did for 2 weeks! The only bad part was, my old Nikonos V died on the first day and I had to resort to my son's Ricoh in a housing, which I was not too familiar with. So needless to say I didn't get to take too many UW shots . But this was our 5th trip so no great loss there.

Lucky you! This is the first non pink flamingo I have seen. Is it true they turn pink by eating the shrimp?

Hi banksy, yes they turn pink from the beta carotene in the shrimp and other things they eat. Aren't you glad the same thing doesn't happen with humans (although I've heard of people turning orange from eating too many carrots)??

Sorry about the Nikonos glad that the diving was good. Enjoyed viewing your scenery, wildlife and evening shots.

Yeah, well, it was my fault. I'm supposed to have it serviced once a year but I skipped it this time because it costs around $300. The internal o-rings (which I can't get to to apply grease) got brittle/sticky and caused my shutter to freeze up.

So what's your username at the "other" place ??
